The Association Of Ministers’ Spounses has donated medical equipment worth K91,750 to Nchanga North General Hospital.
The donated equipment includes three oxygen concentrators, four electronic baby scales, nasal prongs, baby height and weight machines, digital machines, BP monitors for children, and BP cuffs.
Likonge Mulenga, spouse of Chingola Member of Parliament Chipoka Mulenga, handed over the equipment, stating that the donation aims to supplement the government’s efforts in providing healthcare services to the community.
Mrs. Mulenga emphasized that the hospital serves a large catchment area, including Chingola, Chililabombwe, Mufurila, Kalulushi, and Lufyanyama hence need assistance in supplementing Government effort.
“The association believes in empowering women, youths, and vulnerable individuals, including those with disabilities. To achieve this, the women contribute and invite other stakeholders to donate towards noble causes. Last year, they hosted a golf tournament, and the funds were distributed across the 10 provinces for various needs, including the construction of mothers’ shelters,” she said.
Mrs. Mulenga urged the hospital staff to safeguard the donated equipment, encouraging more stakeholders to contribute to the hospital’s operations.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Charles Chishimba highlighted the hospital’s challenges, citing the need for expansion due to the growing population. He thanked the government for its support through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and other funding initiatives to the hospital.
Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi commended the women for their gesture, urging others to follow suit and undertake projects that benefit the entire community.
