Ministers Spouses donate toward Sensele mine accident

Minister’s spouses association have donated essentials towards the rescue mission of the remaining trapped miners at Sensele mine.

Copperbelt Provincial Coordinator for Association of Ministers spouses Samantha Matambo who is also Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo’s wife said the support is to supplemented Government program in helping trapped miners.

Ms Matambo said the Association for Ministers spouses is a non-profit making organization but supplement in women affairs, youths and early childhood learning.

“We were moved to partner with our partners Zambia Flying Doctors Services and decided to contribute assorted food staffs  among them cooking oil and sugar worthy over 25, 000,” she said.

“Our prayer and hope is that very soon the others may be retrieved,” she said.

And Chingola District commissioner Raphael Chimupi was grateful for the donation as the rescue teams have continued working hard until the remaining trapped miners are retrieved.

He said the number of the rescue team is over 90 people operating in the pit and such support is needed.

The rescue teams have continued to search for the remaining trapped miners at Sensele mine and government has assured families that the mission will go on until all are retrieved.

On December 1, 2023, over 30 miners were trapped at Sensele mine and only 12 were retrieved, one was alive 11 were dead bodies.
