Minister of Foreign Affairs in Paris for 173rd BIE

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Stanley  Kakubo, has arrived in Paris, France for the 173rd Session of the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), an Intergovernmental organisation that oversees and regulates World Expos.

The Minister is accompanied by his Special Advisor Mr. Muki Phiri and was received by Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Chrissy Hilweele and First Secretary Consular Ms. Cecilia Kangwa.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, which is set for today, the Hon. Minister held bilateral with His Excellency Mr. Han Duck-soo, Prime Minister of the Republic of South Korea.

The meeting centered on reinforcing established bilateral relations and delved into strategic trade and investment areas agreed upon by both countries.

The meeting, built upon previous deliberations between Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo in May 2023 in London, also discussed further opportunities for mutual cooperation.

Hon. Kakubo expressed satisfaction that both sides have made progress in the implementation of the plans set out in actualising the investment opportunities that exist between the two countries.

During the meeting, His Excellency Mr. Han Duck-soo confirmed the reopening of the Embassy of Korea in Lusaka, Zambia next year, to further deepen the warm relations the two countries continue to enjoy.
