Mimbula Minerals Set to Increase Production Amidst Theft Concerns

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Theft is affecting operations at Mimbula Minerals, with the company losing property worth millions of dollars in fuel and other assets.

Over the weekend, some individuals were arrested while loading copper from the company, highlighting the severity of the issue.

Mimbula Minerals Director, Davis Mwanamoye, emphasized the need for community involvement in safeguarding the mine.

“We are appealing to people to be the watchdog of the mine, to safeguard it, so that it may work to sustain livelihoods and invest in the community,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Mimbula Minerals is set to start phase two of its operation and will increase production from 1,400 tonnes to 5,000 tonnes this year, within the next six months.

Mr. Mwanamoye noted that the mine belongs to the people of Chingola, who should own it, making more opportunities available for jobs and investing in the community.
