Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has refused to be carried away by Zambia’s 2-0 win over Tanzania in the opening Group D match of the Cameroon 2021 CHAN.
Zambia and Guinea are sharing the top spot in Group D with three points each following Tuesday’s wins in Limbe.
In a post-match media conference, Micho said Zambia must strive to perform better as the CHAN advances.
“Winning the opening match is a good step, but we are still far from playing our best,” said the Serbian born coach.
“No team wins the trophy after just winning the first game in the tournament,” he said.
Chipolopolo’s next encounter is on January 23 against Guinea before facing Namibia on 27 January.
Tanzania coach Etienne Ndairagije said:”The game was basically a 50/50 and our opponents Zambia managed to capitalize and take their chances.”
“The two teams played good football and the fans enjoyed what they saw. We need to keep working hard because we still have two games to play in the group and we have a chance,” Ndairagije added.
