Metorex mourns Jackson Sikamo (1959 – 2019)

It is with profound sadness that Metorex Ltd shares the news that Jackson Sikamo, Country Manager and Board Chairman for Chibuluma Mines PLC, passed away on the June 27, 2019. 

We extend our most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Sikamo family, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

Jackson Sikamo joined Chibuluma Mines PLC in March 2010 as the Environmental and Metallurgy Head of Department and was appointed in 2013 as General Manager of the mine.

In 2015, Mr Sikamo assumed the role of Country Manager of Zambia for the Metorex Group and Chairman of the Chibuluma Board.

He also served as President for the Zambian Chamber of Mines from 2014 to 2015. The Board of Directors expects to make further announcements regarding the plan for succession in the coming weeks.

Mr Sikamo had been receiving treatment in a private hospital in Johannesburg earlier in 2019, and later returned home to Kalulushi. He returned to Johannesburg in May 2019 for a surgical procedure and, after a period of hospitalisation, succumbed due to postoperative complications on the June 27, 2019.

Mr Sikamo is survived by his wife, Lindiwe Sikamo and six children. The Sikamo family will announce the details of his funeral arrangements once his mortal remains have been repatriated back to Zambia.
