The K450, 000 community school project at Chigayo in Lulamba being undertaken by Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa under the auspices of Matty Investments is taking shape.

Matty Investments Projects Manager John Banda said the target is to ensure that the 1×3 classroom block is completed as school opens next term.

Mr Banda was optimistic that he would finish the super structure of the classroom block by the end of January.

He said Mr Nkhuwa had promised to upgrade the lives of people when he was elected as Chingola MP and the project was simply delivering on his behalf.

The community molded bricks and burnt them but all the costs are being borne out by Matty Investments.

Chigayo Community School has Grade 1-7 and has a total number of 398 pupils that share the only three classrooms that are the school.

Chigayo School Head Teacher Lonia Ngoma said due to limited classrooms Grade Ones are made to learn for only two hours to leave room for other grades.

Ms Ngoma said once the 1×3 classroom block is completed it will normalize the situation at the school which is located in the area that is undergoing local government regularization.

Sadly, due to excitement of having a brand new classroom, the school management forgot to tell their MP or the projects manager that the school has only one latrine.

Ms Ngoma said Teachers Both teachers and pupils share the same latrine.

But Mr Nkhuwa who is Matty Investment proprietor said the latrines will be taken care of by Matty Investments to carter for a larger population of pupils.

He said Matty Investments will also equip classrooms with school desks once done.
