Patriotic Front (PF) Kasala ward aspiring candidate Martin Simwaba says there is need to build unity among the ward officials so that development is attained at all levels.
Speaking when he distributed 24 party regalia to the 24 executive committee members in the ward on Sunday, Mr Simwaba said that without unity, there is nothing that can be achieved in terms of ward development.
“Unity should start from the committee members so that ordinary members can be inspired to remain united no matter the situation.
“I have embarked on two empowerment projects, which are fish farming and mushroom farming, with the aim of alleviating poverty in the ward. I have injected K20, 000 as capital, to help kick start the projects,” he said.
Mr Simwaba said the projects will commence as soon as the requirements are ready, adding that those expected to benefit are women and youths mostly in ward.
He hopes that once the projects are operationalized, they can inspire other wards and Nchanga Constituency at large, so that the mentality of begging is minimised among residents.
Mr Simwaba urged residents in the ward to maintain peace prior and after the August 12, 2021 elections
“Before any political parties, there is Zambia and at the end of the elections. We need people to see the outcome of the polls,” he said.
And Kasala ward chairperson John Mwewa thanked Mr Simwaba for the initiative to empower the youths, women and the ward, saying that Kasala ward lagged behind in many areas of development.
Mr Mwewa said that he was grateful that Mr Simwaba’s vision for the ward is aimed bettering the ward in all angles, so that other wards can be inspired by the developmental works
Meanwhile, ward vice chairperson Given Mulenga appealed to Mr Simwaba to continue with the good work.
“I just want to encourage you to keep up with the good works even after you are elected by the residents of Kasala ward,” Ms Mulenga said
