Marketeer stabbed at Nyenyezi market

A-45-year-old business man of Masaiti has been stabbed in the stomach with a pair of scissor by his fellow marketeer after a quarrel.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said that on July 27, 2023 at around 18:00 hours, Ignitius Mwamba the victim together with Augustine Kasongo the suspect were at Nyenyezi market selling empty sacks and their stands are adjacent.

Mr Mweemba said the two have been having some difference for some time now, and as they were selling their merchandise, the suspect approached the victim.

He said the suspect accused the victim of bad mouthing him and the victim denied having said anything bad.

“It was during that time that the two started quarrelling and later a fight ensued and the process of fighting, the suspect took a scissors and stabbed the victim in the stomach.

“The victim however, got hold of the suspect until members of the public came and assisted him by apprehending the said suspect and called the police who rushed to the scene and picked up the suspect and the victim was later rushed to Masaiti District Hospital where in turn he was also transferred to Ndola teaching hospital where he is admitted,”.

Mr Mweemba said officers visited the victim and found him at surgical ward and his condition is not stable.

The suspect remains in police custody and will appear in court soon
