A-38-year-old woman of Serenje has allegedly been killed by her husband using a motor vehicle CV joint after a marital dispute.
Benjamin Chungu,37, killed his wife and later handed himself to the police after his suicide attempt failed.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said that the suspect returned home after being away for five days and had a quarrel with his wife which resulted him in picking an old motor vehicle CV joint and hit the wife on the head.
Ms Katongo has identified the victim as Carol Chisenge of Kamwala Township.
She said the incident happened between February 11 at 22:00hours and February 12 at 16:00 hours.
Ms Katongo said the victim sustained two deep cuts on the forehead and another cut on the left side of the head.
She said the body has been deposited in Serenje District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem while the suspect has been detained.
“The suspect is reported to have attempted to commit suicide by taking doom but failed and decided to surrender himself to the Police, “she said.
