Man jailed 6 months for collecting Mulonga Water money

Chililabombwe Magistrate has sentenced a-22-year-old man to six months imprisonment with hard labour for obtaining money by false pretense.

The man was collecting money from unsuspecting members of the public on the pretext that he was a Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation (MWSC) employee.

Reuben Sinkala 22, who was facing two counts of collecting money on false pretenses admitted to the charges when the matter came to court.

And Magistrate Eugene Mtungani sentenced him to six months imprisonment upon his own admission.

Particulars of the case were that Sinkala working with George Mutumwa, 33, carried out                       disconnections and reconnections of water supply and charged customers on the pretext that they were employees of MWSC when in fact not.
