A-26-year-old man of Ndola has allegedly committed suicide by drinking an insecticide after he was suspected of stealing four tomatoes at a farm he worked.
Copperbelt Acting Commanding Officer Sharon Zulu said that on July 3, 2022 around 14 hours at Kasongo farms Francis Chanda who is the victim drunk phoskill insecticide after he was suspected of stealing four fruits of tomatoes in Luapula Eden farms where he worked as a farm manager.
Ms Zulu said in anger the victim drunk about 500 mls of the poison and ran into the bush where he became unconscious.
She said after a search for him, he was found and later rushed to Ndola Teaching Hospital where he died after being admitted for few hours.
“The body was then taken to Ndola Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting burial and an inquiry file has opened,” she said.
