Police in Chililabombwe have arrested a 24-year old man for allegedly killing a man who stole four plastic chairs.
Charles Phiri was arrested in connection with the murder of Stanislaus Makofi 38, of Zambia compound.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said Phiri had beaten the victim who was alleged to have stolen four plastic chairs.
Ms Katongo said the incident occurred when the late victim was alleged to have stolen four plastic chairs and upon being apprehended by the now suspect in the murder case, was beaten.
She said he was later taken to the Police with a deep cut on the forehead and was complaining of general body pains.
Ms Katongo said Police rushed the victim to Kakoso Hospital for medical attention where he later died after few hours.
She said the body is in the mortuary awaiting postmortem while the suspect is detained in police custody yet to be charged.
