Police in Samfya have arrested a twenty-six-year old man for alleged sexually defiling a five-year-old girl.
The suspect who works as a Guard at a named Church alleged sexually defiled the girl on several occasions.
The mother 29, of the victim went to Church leaving her two daughters (female juveniles) aged six and five home.
When she returned, she noticed an unusual vaginal discharge and odor on the victim and after enquiring, the victim revealed that their neighbour, Eric Kasongo invited the two siblings for lunch each time their parents were not home,
After which he could isolate the victim and sexually abuse her.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said the whole ordeal came to light on September 12, 2019 around 1500 hours.
Ms Katongo has identified the suspect as Erick Kasongo of Prisons Compound (not correctional facility) same compound with the victim.
She said the suspect has since been detained in Police custody and will appear in court soon.
