Maluca ceremony date set

The Mambwe-Lungu Cultural Association has announced that it will hold the Mutomolo traditional ceremony in June this year.

Chief Mpande who is the Patron for the Mambwe-Lungu Cultural Association says the ceremony will be held from June 24 to 25 at Chila Grounds in Mbala district.

He disclosed this when Mambwe Lungu Cultural Association National Coordinator Felix Mulwanda and his secretary Sinai Simuziya called on him at his palace in Senga Hill district.

The traditional leader said it was decided that the ceremony be held this year after a three year absence which was necessitated by the death of Chief Nondo and the subsequent outbreak of Covid 19.

Chief Mpande explained that since cases of Covid 19 have reduced, the ceremony will now be held.

He has since urged the Mambwe and Lungu speaking people to seriously start preparing for the event so that it can be successful.

Meanwhile, the Association’s National Coordinator emphasized that the ceremony will be held under strict Covid 19 guidelines.

Mr Mulwanda said the committee will ensure people observe the five golden rules to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during the ceremony. ZANIS
