Maize farmers told not to sell

The Zambia National Farmers Union -ZNFU- has expressed concern with some farmers who have started selling their maize before it is harvested

ZNFU Media and Public Relations Manager Calvin Kaleyi says the farmers are being disadvantaged by selling their produce at a low price.

Mr Kaleyi has advised the farmers to hold on to their produce and wait for the marketing season to open.

He said this will allow the farmers to get the best price for their produce.

Mr Kaleyi said the buyers are exploiting the farmers and taking advantage of the fact that the commodity is in high demand in the country and beyond the borders.
