Madagascar wants 500 Zambian Teachers

President Edgar Lungu says he will ask the Minister of General Education to consider the request by Madagascar for Zambia to send about five hundred (500) teachers to that country.

President Lungu says the leadership in Madagascar has been requesting for teachers since the time of late President Levy Mwanawasa.

He says Madagascar wants Zambian teachers to help with the teaching of English Language in that country.

President Lungu told ZNBC news that this was discussed during a bilateral meeting he held with the new President of Madagascar Andry Rajoelina.

During the meeting the two Heads of State discussed areas of concerns and the need to increase cooperation between the two countries.

President Lungu also took advantage of the meeting to congratulate Mr. Rajoelina on his victory.

He assured Mr. Rajoelina of Zambia’s support as he takes over the COMESA chairmanship.
