Luwana hospital worker arrested for theft

A General worker at Luwana district Hospital has been arrested for stealing Governmrnt medicines worth K2, 244.00

Anoshi Sakutoma 38 of Manyama area in Kalumbila has also been charged for the case of Theft by public servant Contrary to section 277 of the penal code Cap 87 of the laws of Zambia.

According to North Western Province commanding officer Fred Mulenga, the stolen Medicines were four boxes of injectable contraceptive, one box of malaria antigen, some sachets of Coartem and one bottle of chlorine from the pharmacy.

Dr Mulenga said that the incident occurred between February 28 and April 8th, 2022 at unknown time at lumwana District Hospital.

He said that Chibwe Satimu, a pharmacist at the same hospital alerted the police on April 8th, 2022, that Anoshi Sakutoma had stolen some Medicines from the hospital.

“Facts of the matter are that some medicines at the hospital pharmacy have been missing since February 28th 2022 and the Hospital management decided to install a CCTV in the pharmacy and today again some medicine went missing,” he said.

Dr Mulenga said it was through the CCTV video footage it was discovered that Anoshi had been stealing the medicines from the pharmacy as he had access of entry during cleaning.

And Dr Mulenga said that Docket of case was opened and a recovery has been made.
