Losing UPND Kabushi Parliamentary candidate Bernard Kanengo has told the Ndola High Court that he sought refuge in a mosque in Ndola after Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo allegedly unleashed his cadres on him.

Mr Kanengo has petitioned Mr Lusambo’s election on account of alleged mass violence, corruption and electoral malpractices.

He alleges that Mr Lusambo gave his supporters K20,000 mealie meal and paid choirs with cash and mealie meal.

Testifying before Ndola High Court Judge Edward Musonda, Mr Kanengo said on August 9, 2021, his campaign team was allegedly attacked by Mr Lusambo’s boys popularly known as Nato Forces.

Mr Kanengo revealed that on that day, he was with his campaign team when they saw commotion and heard some noise.

He testified that shortly afterwards, some youths identified as Nato Forces went speeding in a Toyota Land Cruiser and one of them disembarked while carrying a firearm.

Mr Kanengo told the court that he fled for his safety to the Kabushi Mosque with two other UPND members Moses Mumba and Patrick Mwewa.

He testified that some of his supporters were also poured hot porridge by the Nato Forces when they found them sticking UPND posters.
