Lusaka: Man drown in drunken walking

By JOHN SAKALA
A-30-year-old man of Lusaka’s Chainda Township has drowned in what is suspected to have been a trip out after a drunken walking.

Kelvin Mwansa of House No. 12/13 Chainda Township drowned after a drinking spree.

Deputy Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed the death of Mr Mwansa to The Independent Observer in an interview.

Mr Hamoonga said Mr Mwansa had yesterday at around 22:00 hours, gone to his sister ‘s house in a drunken state demanding for food but unfortunately he was not given which made him angry and he left the place .

“He was later discovered dead this morning. The scene of crime was visited and the body was found in the drainage submerged in water. No physical injuries were observed on the body. However, it is suspected that since he was drunk, he could have fallen into the drainage and failed to come out thereby drowning in the small pool of water which was in the drainage.

“The body has since been picked and is in the Lusaka University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting Postmortem,” he said.
