President Edgar Lungu says government wants every chiefdom in the country to have a school.
President Lungu said this is a long-term plan which is slowly being realised through the construction of primary and secondary schools.
He said government wants children to have access to education because it is key to national development.
He said there can be no meaningful development without providing education to children.
The President said this when he met Chiefs in Itezhi Tezhi District of Central province.
Meanwhile, President Lungu has urged Zambians with money to work with government to look after the welfare of chiefs in their villages.
He said it is not right to only remember chiefs when it is time for political campaigns.
The President said Politicians with money have a duty to help their chiefs back home like it was in the past.
He said government will continue doing its part by building palaces and providing transport to the chiefs.
And speaking on behalf of other traditional leaders, Chieftainess Muwezwa urged government to expand the hospital in the area.
The traditional leader also said government should work on key roads and bridges in the area.
She assured the President that as chiefs they will ensure there is peace during and after the 2021 elections.
Chieftainess Muwezwa said Zambians have enjoyed peace and that no politician should be allowed to bring confusion in the country/ZNBC.
