Lubwa voter apathy, attributed to fake campaign promises

By NCHIMUNYA MIYOBA
Anti Voter Apathy Project on the Copperbelt says the low turnout of voters at polling stations in the on going Lubwa ward by election can be attributed to untruthful campaign messages delivered by political parties.

AVAP Provincial Coordinator Poster Jumbe said candidates failed to sale themselves to the electorates as they were delivering messages that were impossible to attain.

Mr Jumbe said alot of messages delivered where sugar coated and did not make sense to the electorates hence discouraging people to vote.

He said that political parties were not truthful when delivering campaign messages and imposed candidates that people did not want to stand.

“The messages delivered by those standing where not within the powers of councillors. The residents now can tell who is telling lies or not.

“AVAP is hopeful that a good number of people will turn up to vote before the end of the day,” he said.
