Lubambe Copper Mines has donated 40 spray pumps to Chingola and Chililabombwe District Health offices to help fight malaria.
The 16 litres sprayer donation worth K514,000 is aimed at ensuring that the ongoing Indoor Residual Spraying (ISR) exercise is successfully implemented.
Lubambe acting General Manager Operations Venus Kasito said the company wants to see reduced cases of malaria by ensuring all household are sprayed.
Mr Kasito said the pumps are meant to supplement government’s efforts in preventing Malaria cases in Zambia.
He appealed to household owners to support the fight against malaria by welcoming the spray operators to save lives.
“I assure you that Lubambe mine will continue to support governments programs for the benefits of Zambian citizens. As a mine it is our sincere hope that the spray pumps will be taken care of and used for the intended purpose,” he said.
Speaking earlier Chililabombwe District Health Director Martha Chakulimba said the mining firm support is helping the district in achieving the dream of eliminating malaria.
Dr Chakulimba said the pumps will go a long way in the IRS program which is a key impact in eliminating malaria.
And Chingola Distinct Health Director Davis Mwewa said the donation has come at the right time as the district was having a shortage of pumps for the ongoing IRS program in the district.
Dr Mwewa said government is using various means in eliminating malaria and needs consented effort.
