Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda says he is happy that the covid-19 vaccines are in the District.
The vaccine was launched under the theme; “Stopping Covid-19, Delivering Hope”.
The Mayor said it was the first to be vaccinated and to lead by example as the district father.
Mr Chanda encouraged residents to take the voluntary vaccination exercise which he assured that the vaccines are Safe.
“I would like to thank President Edgar Lungu for the good gesture through Minister of Health Dr Jonas Chanda who has shown serious leadership in fighting COVID-19” he said.
Mr Chanda said that the Covid-19 needs to be fought with concerted efforts.
He informed the Luanshya residents that Roan General Hospital, Thompson Hospital and Luanshya hospital has been designated as vaccination sites.
And Luanshya District Commissioner Patrick Maipambe officially launched the vaccination exercise for district at Roan General Hospital.
Mr Maipambe reiterated the government’s call that the AstraZeneca Vaccine is safe for the Zambian people.
He said that his office and that of the Mayor will ensure that no one is left behind in as much as the Covid-19 is concerned.
Roan General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Patrick Musonda said that the hospital is in full supply of the vaccination vaccines.
