Red Arrows coach Chissy Mbewe says he is disappointed after his side surrendered a one goal lead to allow Forest Rangers snatch maximum points.
Arrows on Saturday lost 2-1 to Forest at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in a Super Division Week 14.
Chisi said in a post-match interview that the team lost concentration and allowed silly goals.
“I am disappointed, we gave everything to this game and we just lost concentration. And we allowed them to score which I will describe as silly goals and that is how we gave away the lead,” he said
He said the team is dropping points due to lack of concentration.
“I think we really need to work on our concentration levels. If you look at the first goal they scored us, we were late to close were the ball dropped. And again if you see the second goal it was a mistake by the goal keeper which I feel he saw the state of the pitch but he opted to catching the ball instead of patching the ball,” he said.
Chisi said team needs to work hard in order to achieve points.
“On the league table I am not happy because it’s been a while since we played in the ABSA cup and our target has been to fight and participate. But we really need to work on our consistence, today we play three points the next time we drop points. I can just say we need to work extra hard,” he said.
And Forest Rangers assistant coach Owen Kaposa described the game as tough and was happy to beat Arrows who are doing well this season.
“The game was tough; we were playing tough opponents who are doing fine of late. I just give credit to my team, we were down but we didn’t look down. They had to come up and get the goals as a team despite conceding the past three games. It’s good that we are also scoring,” he said.
Kaposa said this victory has given his charges hope because they want to play in the ABSA.
“The good part is we are creating a lot of chances, I am just hoping that one day we will score five goals. We just have to give confidence to the players so that when they miss chances they don’t look down, we need to keep on encouraging them.
“Our goal this season is to do better than last season. And this victory has given us hope because we want the first round to play the ABSA so we have to finish in the top six and with this victory to be on the third with a game in hand, we just want to concentrate that before the end of this game we will be in a better position,” he said.
