Likili Bus going to Mpulungu burnt to ashes

Fifty-three passengers escaped unhurt after a Likili bus in which they were in from Ndola, going to Mpulungu caught fire and was burnt to ashes.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the accident happened about 27 km away from Chembe at Lubembe area in Democratic Republic of Congo along Pedicle road.

Mr Hamoonga said involved was a Zong Tong bus registration number BCC 940 belonging to Likili company which was being driven by Kaombo Joseph 50, residing at house number 2713 new Chibolya extension Lusaka with 53 passengers on board.

He said Police officers visited the scene and found the bus completely burnt.

Mr Hamoonga said the driver narrated that whilst driving, he suddenly heard a bang at the engine and fire started fortunately there were no Casualties.

He said the accident occurred at Lubembe area in Congo on December 27, at 10:30hrs 27 Kilometers away from Chembe District.

“An undisclosed amount of property has been destroyed in the inferno,” he said
