Lightening strikes Solwezi man dead

A 42-year-old man has been killed by lightning at Solwezi General Hospital.

Northwestern Province Commissioner of Police Fred Mulenga says the incident happened yesterday around 15:30 hours near a mother’s shelter at Solwezi General Hospital.

Dr Mulenga has identified the deceased as Chelo Sirensi of Muzabula area.

“The incident was reported by Mumba Winford of Muzabula area that his brother was struck by lightning whilst he was visiting a sick relative who was admitted in the hospital, police visited the scene and inspected the body which was found with multiple burns and was certified dead by a medical doctor,” he said.

Dr Mulenga said the body has since been deposited in Solwezi General Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
