Nchanga Member of Parliament Chali Chilombo has called on residents in his constituency to have their pets vaccinated.
Mr Chilobo said domesticated animals deserve to be vaccinated to prevent them from diseases which can easily be communicable to humans.
“Vaccinations of pets prevent diseases that can be passed not only from animal to animal but also from animal to human. Diseases prevalent in wildlife, such as rabies and distemper, can infect unvaccinated pets and later to humans,” he said.
He said to encourage the community in ensuring their pets are vaccinated, he invited Veterinary officers from the District Commissioner’s office today Thursday August 16, 2018, to vaccinate pets from a central place which is the Nchanga Parliamentary office in Kabundi South.
He said only a vaccinated pet is a safe animal to live with in homes.
