The Ministry of Lands is this year expected to issue 6,367 certificates to three settlements in Solwezi under the national upgrading and titling program.
This is out of the 300,000 certificates that will be issued countrywide before the end of this year.
Solwezi Municipal Council Public Relations Officer Moses Ngosa said 2,235 certificates will be issued in Kyawama compound, 2,132 in Zambia compound and 2,000 in Kizhingezhinge.
Mr Ngosa appealed to people in the identified areas not to make upgrading and titling payments to any person without written authority from the council.
He said Solwezi Municipal Council in conjunction with officers from the Ministry of Lands will soon be conducting meetings to sensitize people in the targeted areas on the processes.
He also appealed to all residents in the identified areas to remain calm and cooperative as the national upgrading and titling program unfolds/ZANIS.
