Konkola, Rangers face off in KCM derby

By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Old foes Konkola Blades and Nchanga Rangers will tomorrow renew their rivalry when they face-off in a National Division One Week 18 encounter in the border Town.

The two Konkola Copper Mines sponsored sides are seeking to bounce back to the Super Division and have so far not disappointed this season.

Social media this week has been awash with banter from both sets of fans, who follow the two teams religiously.

The social media buzz about this match is also a clear indication that this derby still means a lot to the two teams despite them campaigning in the lower ranks.

The home side will be looking to cement their stay on the second position with victory over their neighbours.

The Chililabombwe side will also be eyeing revenge having lost the first meeting 1-0 at Nchanga Stadium in October last year.

Blades have 34 points at par with joint leaders Kansanshi Dynamos and they know too well that victory against Rangers will be a morale booster to their aspirations of winning back promotion.

Rangers under new coach Israel Mwanza will also be looking forward to returning to winning ways following their shock 4-0 defeat suffered against Maestro United Zambia Academy last weekend.

The visitors won the reverse fixture 1-0 in Chingola, so they will be buoyant at Konkola Stadium.

Rangers have 27 points on sixth position and will relish beating their sister club to climb up the table.
