Tragedy struck in Kitwe, Zambia, when a devastating house fire claimed the lives of three family members.
Benedict Bwalya, 72, his wife Josephine Nachula Bwalya, 60, and their daughter Mutale Bwalya, 40, lost their lives in the inferno.
The fire, which broke out unexpectedly, ravaged the entire house, destroying all household goods.
In a heroic act, Mutale managed to save her 11-month-old daughter, Yande Amaya Bwalya, by handing her over to a neighbor through a window.
The infant was rushed to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that police visited the scene and the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Kitwe Teaching Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
This heartbreaking incident is a sobering reminder of the importance of fire safety and emergency preparedness.
