Kitwe Council mourns ‘Super Ken’

Kitwe City Council management and staff, on behalf of the citizens of the city of Kitwe, extend their condolences to the family of the First Republican President of Zambia, the Government and the people of Zambia over the death of Dr Kenneth David Kaunda, fondly called ‘KK’.

The Local authority joins the nation and the world over to celebrate the life of a global icon who contributed immensely to the struggle for independence as one of the Africa’s pillar of the liberation movement. The late Dr Kaunda was a true iconic statesman of the highest credential and selfless dedication to the interests of Zambia as well as well-being of neighbours and mankind.

KK taught and preached the values of love, peace and unity which formed the foundation of the nation as ‘One Zambia One Nation.’[doc id=39072]

We vividly remember the late Dr Kaunda being the first Minister of Local Government (1962-1964) who later a Republican President and championed and decentralization process by placing people at the Centre of all social, economic and political activities. His towering patriotism is a source of inspiration for the local government fraternity and posterity.
