The Kidney Foundation of Zambia has praised Government for accepting to have renal services under the National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) Scheme.
Foundation Chairperson Thomson Fungwa said this means that patients with Kidney condition will now access health services such as dialysis and kidney transplant under NHIMA.
Mr FUNGWA said the development will reduce costs associated with the condition and stress amongst patients.
He said that Members and non-members of the foundation are eligible to access the services at all NHIMA accredited facilities.
Meanwhile, Foundation Secretary Augustine Mukuka has appealed to Zambia Medical and Medicines Supplies Agency ZAMMSA to expedite the procurement of renal consumables for kidney patients.
