KCM unveils new Nchanga Rangers Ex-co

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Provisional Liquidator Milingo Lungu has appointed Patson Nyirenda as the new president of Nchanga Rangers, taking over from Yoram Kapai.

Lungu said Nyirenda the acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at KCM will take from Kapai who resigned from the position.

KCM Public Relations and Communications Manager Shapi Shachinda has been appointed as vice president, while the current vice president Victor Mpunda has also been retained in the same capacity.

“I wish to announce that the company has reorganized the Nchanga Rangers Football Club Executive Committee (ExCo) with a view to expedite taking back the club into the Super Division,” Lungu said.

The rest of the ExCo members have been retained namely; Mwelwa Chilundika (Treasurer), Teddy Mwiche (Vice Treasurer), Matyola Haanyama (Vice Secretary), and committee members are John Kane, Nelius Mumba and Joseph Munongo. The position of Secretary, which was previously held by Chalwe Chipulu will be filled at a later stage.

Lungu thanked Kapai and his team for dedication to service during a challenging time for KCM and wished him well in his other endeavours.

“Nchanga Rangers is a big and historical club in Zambian football whose current status does not befit its heritage. It is my sincere hope that the new executive committee will work closely with all stakeholders to take back Nchanga Rangers to its right place.

“I and the Management team at KCM will do everything possible to ensure the objective of winning back promotion all the way to the Super league is achieved in the shortest possible time,” he said.

This is according to a media statement made by KCM Public Relations and Communications Manager Shapi Shachinda.
