A-38-year-old miner at Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has died after becoming trapped in a crusher at Konkola Copper Mine East mill.
This occured on October 19, 2024, at approximately 12:00.
According to brief facts of the matter, Lawrence Ndalama, the victim, was operating the East mill crusher alongside Darwin Kachinda when the machine jammed.
The two attempted to clear the blockage, but unfortunately, Mr. Ndalama became trapped and was killed instantly. Darwin Kachinda sustained bruises on his left arm.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident in a statement.
Mr. Mweemba stated that both men were rushed to Nchanga South Hospital, where Lawrence was pronounced dead upon arrival, and Darwin received treatment.
