KCM extols Konkola Blades for bouncing back to the Super Division

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Provisional Liquidator  Milingo Lungu, Management and Staff of its subsidiary  Konkola Mineral Resources (KMRL) has extolled  Konkola Blades Football Club for bouncing back to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Super Division in emphatic style.

KCM Chief Executive Officer Christopher Sheppard said that the resilience shown by Konkola Blades and their organization all round has brought about the success.

Sheppard said that every sponsor desires that their teams should be playing high level football and Konkola Blades has made KCM and KRML proud.

He has encouraged the Konkola Blades ExCo, the players and supporters not to rest on their laurels, but to go on to achieve greater heights.

Sheppard said they should first consolidate their stay in the Super Division and later on to fight to win the Super League Championship to enable them to play continental football.

“KCM and KMRL extend their gratitude to the Konkola Blades Executive Committee (ExCo), the technical bench and players for remaining focused on winning promotion throughout the 2020/2021 FAZ National Division One league season in order to achieve the extraordinary accomplishment. The Company also extends its gratitude to the supporters and the community of Chililabombwe, and all the other partners that stood tall with the team during the previous football campaign to ensure it qualified to the Super Division,” he said.

He said KMRL will play its part as a sponsor to make sure more success is achieved by Konkola Blades Football Club.

The team fondly known as ‘Sharp Konkola Blades’ was relegated to division one in 2016 and further to the Copperbelt Provincial League in 2017, but has come back strongly to emerge as Champions in the FAZ National Division League.

Konkola Blades is a legendary Club with a special place in Zambian football, having been among the early entrants to organized football and their return to the Super Division merely confirms the Club’s status.
