Kasumbalesa marooned trucks spills into Chingola

By Story and Pictures by JOHN SAKALA
The Marooned trucks at the Kasumbalesa border post have spilled into Chingola.

However, the local authority and Zambia Police have taken quick measures by allowing trucks to park on western side of the newly done road between Lima Motel and Mega Eggs.

The truck congestion comes following a protest by all SADC truck drivers to enter Congo DR after one of them was killed.

This is not the first time that a SADC driver has been murdered in DRC.

Saidi Yassin one of the Acid tanker drivers from Chambishi said some Congolese Security grab money from them on gun point.

Mr Yassin said at times they just throw spiked metal under a moving truck to puncture so that they get what they want.

This is along Chingola-Chililabombwe road after the Police Check point at Solwezi Turn off near Helen area.

He said shockingly even children below 10 years do approach them asking for money and they disobey them it becomes a fatal disobedience where they are beaten to death.

This empty road, thats where Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo had told police officers to direct all other trucks to park.

Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo who toured the area regretted that the situation is bad.

Mr Tembo said Chingola despite having a truck parking area at Mining Haulage, truck drivers still prefer to congest the road.

He said the amount charged at Truck shop is minimal and wondered why truckers prefer to park anywhere.
