Local Government Minister Charles Banda says Kasumbalesa boarder Post is at high risk to Coronavirus due to high human traffick and people who don’t to adhere to measure that have been put up.
De Banda said the people don’t seem to be observing the measures that are put in place by government on wearing face masks.
He said that the Council should step up with action to intensify sensitization so that people adhere to the measures and take this serious.
“I’m worried people are seen just trading normally with no masks which is posing a very big danger to their health. I think the Council should lobby for masks from stakeholders to supplement the ones they will get from the provincial offices,” he said.
He said that the boarder has an influx of people going in and out hence the need for it to have enough sanitizers and hand washing places.
Dr Banda has advised Chililabombwe Council to lobby for more masks to give out to the marketeers because the situation is worrying.
He said the majority of the people come from the the Democratic Republican of Congo whose state may not be known.
The Minister told the Council to increase the number of cleaning in the market and observe social distancing and hand washing.
“Let’s provide masks we need them we are at high risk if we need to engage the police for people to adhere let’s do that,” he said.
He said security is key hence the need to control the influx of people coming in and out.
