Kapiri Taxi driver drugged, his car stolen

A Taxi driver of Kapiri Mposhi has been drugged by suspected thieves who later stole his newly acquired car.

Imagine Siatwenda 28, of Soweto Township in Kapiri has had his unregistered vehicle stolen by criminals who booked him.

On the way the customers offered him a drink laced with drugs for them to steal his car.

Due to delays for him to go dizzy they asked that they should go to a funeral house for a few minutes.

And as planned ‘Imagine’ slept and was bundled back into his unregistered Toyota Plaz where he was driven and dumped in Kabwe about 70 kilometers from Kapiri.

Acting Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the development to The Independent Observer.

Mr Mwale said the condition of the taxi driver is stable.

In another development, one person died while seven others including the driver sustained serious injuries in a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on Saturday May 30, 2020.

The accident happened around 16:00 hours along Musundu – Luwingu road in Kawambwa.

Mr Mwale identified the victims as Kaba Mpundu age not known but believed to be a Congolese National who died when the vehicle he was travelling in overturned.

He said the injured ate Kabamba Mukendi 45, of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Riden Kabamba age not known of Ndola and Mulenga Mulenga, 21.

“Others are Kennedy Chileshe age not known, Joseph Chanda 40, and Simon Muyambo 22, all of Mansa.

“The accident happened when the driver of the scania truck registration number AJE 3944 identified as Abel Mulenga 24, of Luwingu failed to negotiate a curve due to excessive speed and in the process lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn. Body of the deceased is in the same hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
The motor vehicle is extensively damaged,” he said.
