Kapiri Town Council will sink 21 boreholes in an effort to provide clean drinking water to the residents in the area.
Kapiri Mposhi Town Council Chairperson Obby Kabasa said K840, 000 from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has been set aside to drill 21 boreholes all the 18 wards of Kapiri.
Mr Kabasa said provision of clean water remains challenge to communities serves especially in schools and health centres.
He said among the areas that will directly benefit with boreholes schools and health centres are on top of the agenda.
“Other projects we submitted to the Minister of Local Government for approval are the rehabilitation and completion of classroom blocks at cost K330, 000, construction of market shelters at K126, 000, rehabilitation of Mukonchi Police Post at K80,000 and construction of a footbridge across Muteteshi river at K95,000
“The Minister has approved K1.6 million for projects submitted for funding under Kapiri Mposhi Constituency Development Fund for 2018 in the District. CDF is helping our communities in fighting poverty through the implementation of local development projects and particularly those that provide basic needs such as education, healthcare, feeder roads and water,” he said.
Mr Kabasa assured all the stakeholders that the council will not delay the process of releasing money for the projects to avoid the money from being mopped by government.
