…says Zambia leads in political stability

ZAMBIA’S High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga has called on investors from the Indian State of Punjab to consider Zambia as a destination of choice for trade and investment.
“I wish to call on the Zambia Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) to look to Punjab and in India in general to facilitate investment,” Mrs. Kapijimpanga said.
The High Commissioner said Zambia was politically stable, centrally located with access to 8 neighbouring countries with whom it had very peaceful brotherly relations and that it had a strong legal framework that protected private sector investment.
She said this when she addressed the 6th MACHMA EXPO 2018 at the GLADA ground in Ludhiana, Punjab, India, where experts showcased products from machine tools, automation and cutting industries, machinery and industrial products.
“Zambia is yearning for investment in the field of energy especially that energy tariffs are now cost reflective,” the High Commissioner said.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga said the exhibition was important as it gave great opportunities to over 500 industrialists who exhibited to help industrialists champion business growth in their fields.
“I wish to thank the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings of Punjab for working with Zambia High Commission in India to woo investors,” she said.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga said her Mission believed that technological empowerment was crucial for the promotion of products and services in a dynamic business environment.
“May I urge the 1200 members of the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings of Punjab who undertake trips abroad to promote exports and investment abroad to sample what Zambia can offer,” she said.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga praised other Indian companies that had a footprint in Zambia such as Nava Bharat running a sugar plantation in Kawambwa, SAFAL running a manganese plant in Serenje, Tata running various joint ventures, among others.
