New Kapalala Market which is situated at Main Masala Market has been burnt in Ndola.
The Fire started at about 20:30 hours yesterday August 16, 2022 at unknown point which later spread out to one side of the Market.
The fire brigade took time to quench the fire as they did not have enough water and also the challenge to access roads to get to the points of fire before it could spread further.
Copperbelt Commanding Officer Sharon Zulu said the fire was later quenched by combined team of fire fighters drawn from other fire station based in Ndola, Luanshya and Kitwe.
Ms Zulu said the cause of the fire is not yet known but the Police have instituted investigations into the matter to determine the cause and also to bring the culprits to book.
She said the value of the destroyed properties is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile Police officers will continue guarding the premises to prevent looters from looting peoples remained properties.
