Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo has handed over 51 houses to police officers in Mufulira and Masaiti districts on the Copperbelt.
Speaking during the hand over, Mr Kampyongo said the officers work from any district, hence the need to provide a suitable environment for uniformed officers.
“Our officers work everywhere, in the town, in the villages; we want to provide a suitable environment for them so that when we send them to work, they should fine better homes, “he said.
And Mufulira Member of Parliament Evans Chibanda said, the houses have given a face lift to Sikalangwe Police Camp which was established in 1962.
Mr Chibanda said he was happy that the President has lived up to his word.
He thanked him for his gesture that Mufulira is also part of the beneficiaries of the houses.
Masaiti Member of Parliament Michael Katambo also expressed happiness over the infrastructures.
He said many are witnesses to the many developmental projects taking place in the district.
Copperbelt Province Minister Japhen Mwakalombe called on the people of the Copperbelt to give support to the leadership of President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Mwakalombe said the leadership of the President needs to support for a better Zambia.
Government has so far constructed 1500 houses for the security wings across the country out of the targeted 12,000 houses.
