Kalulushi Mayor donates 35 sewing machines

Kalulushi Mayor Rashida Mulenga has donated 35 sewing machines, 17 carpentry tools, 10 building tools and six computers to 25 youth and women clubs in the district.

Speaking during the donation, Ms Mulenga said the empowerment program was aimed at promoting and supporting skills development among the people.

She said the donation was made possible with support from Vision Care Foundation (VCF) and from Tools With a Mission (TWAM), a UK based organization.

“We would like to encourage the beneficiaries to effectively utilize the donations and further thank VCF and TWAM for their support. We are also pleased to inform the Public that Kalulushi Municipal Council is in the process of setting up 3 centres in Kalulushi, Chambishi and Chibuluma for the purpose of providing skill training in tailoring, ICT, brick laying and carpentry among other skills to empower the youth and women in the district.

“We also donated various tools to the Local Authority to be used at the Training center. Present during the donation was Director of Housing and Social Services Mr Francis Makesa and Officers from the Council among others,” she said.
