Kalulushi Deputy Mayor aspires for Mayoral seat

By ALICE NACHILEMBE

KalulushiDeputy Mayor Paul Chivunda has declared interest to stand as Mayor for Kalulushi before the district and Constituency leadership.

Mr Chivunda who is also the PF Kalulushi Youth District Chairperson  and Dongwe ward Councillor said he has five years municipality knowledge  and experience.

He said he has the capability to run a municipality as he has also served as finance chairperson for the council during the period that the council was able to achieve a number of notable projects.

Mr Chivunda said the two positions have enabled him to take on the challenges ahead because during his period the Municipality has achieved a number of projects in Dongwe ward and Kalulushi as a district.

He has also noted the need for the council to embark on industrialization and bring more manufacturing companies to the district.

Mr Chivunda said  two shafts, seven shafts and Chibuluma mine  closure has affected the economy and it needs a boost by industrialization.

He said he has taken the stance because of President Edgar Lungu’s encouragement to young people to take leadership positions and stand for any position in the party.

“President Lungu remains my mentor and I look up to his leadership and ability to rule this nation and as Kalulushi district  youth chairperson am calling for unity of purpose and support the candidature of president Edgar Lungu with all those who will be adopted and still we should remain loyal to the party even if we are not adopted,” he said.

Mr Chivunda said government has worked tirelessly for it’s people as evidenced by the projects seen every where.

And Kalulushi District Vice Chairperson Cornelius Mwansa called on all the members to unity and work as a team if they have to return power.

Mr Mwansa said these elections will be crucial hence discouraged division amongst themselves by having preferred cadidates.

The press briefing was attended to by the District officials, and constituency officials from both Kalulushi and Chambishi.
