Kalulushi Council procures a grader

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
Kalulushi Munucipal Council has procured a brand new grader at a total cost of K2,522,500.00.

The Grader was bought from Transinovation Motors Zambia Limited using locally generated funds.

And Kalulushi Mayor Rashida Mulenga said the Grader will be used to improve the road network.

Ms Mulenga said the people of Kalulushi have complained of the poor maintenance f roads.

she was elated and appreciated Kalulushi Council Management and the Civic Leaders for having managed to procure the grader.

“Now that we have acquired this grader at least we should have less complaints with regards to the maintenance of roads. In the past The Local Authority was faced with an option of either hiring or lobbying for graders and these graders would only be in possession of the Council for a restricted time thereby limiting the amount of work done in the 22 wards of the district,” she said.

The Mayor thanked the community for payments of their rates which enabled the Council to procure the grader using locally generated funds.

And the Chairperson for Finance Committee Alick Mwape said the deplorable state of the roads in the district demanded that the civic leaders had to lobby for graders from different stakeholders and as a result of this a resolution was passed to procure a grader.

Transinovations Motors Zambia Limited Operations Manager, Ephraim Shinyanga, handed over the grader to the Local Authority yesterday and he thanked the Council for supporting the local company through the purchase of the grader and also called on the Council to consider procuring other machines from them.
