Kalulushi Council approves K74.2m as 2020 Budget

Kalulushi Municipal Council has approved a budget of K74.2m for 2020.

Chairperson of Finance Alick Mwape said the Council expects to collect 100% from the mines and commercial properties.

Mr Mwape said the council will focus on attaining service provision which is currently is at 43 per cent from locally generated income.

He was speaking during the Special Extra Ordinary Council Meeting when he presented the Budget which was held in the Council Chambers.

Mr Mwape said other focus is to attain overall collection efficiency of 85 per ecnt and implement the E-payment system to clients in order to reduce cash contact.

He said each ward in 2020, will receive K150, 000 as Ward Development Fund.

“The council will procure Earth Moving Equipment and service vehicles in order to improve service delivery. Completion of Truck Parking Project, Construction of Market Shelters around the District and Construction of a District Abattoir. Installation of street lights, drainages and maintenance of roads in the year 2020,” He said

The meeting was chaired by the Mayor of Kalulushi Rashida Mulenga who encouraged the Councillors to engage the community in their wards so that they can take keen interest in the way Ward fund will be administered through the ward Development Committees (WDCs).
