The Patriotic Front (PF) Mufulira Central incumbent Member of Parliament Evans Chibanda has called Mufulira central marketers to be patient with the government as it has already released K800, 000 to be used in the completion of the Kamuchanga new modern Market.
Dr Chibanda said the funds were released to Mufulira Municipal Council which has commenced works on the market.
“I inherited the construction of the market as well, so it has nothing to do with the empowerment, government will complete the construction of the market in due course,” he said.
Mr Chibanda said the minister of Local Government Charles Banda had already released some funds to ensure that the market shelter is completed on time.
“The Mufulira Central lawmaker said he lobbied from the ministry of Local Government to have the market is constructed.
“I will be checking the market; especially that what have remained are the final touches, and I will make sure everything is in place for the handover,” he said.
And Mufulira Municipal Council Acting Public Relations Manager Thandiwe Tembo confirmed that the funds are available for the completion of the modern market.
Ms Tembo said that the finishing of the market is in phases, what will be considered first is the ablution block and the green market shelter so that the marketers can move in as soon as possible.
“The funds available to finish Kamuchanga modern market and will ensure that the ablution block as well as the green market shelter are completed to facilitate for the marketers to move in,” she said.
Ms Tempo said the market will also be electrified and running water will be installed using the funds released by the ministry of local government.
