K400, 000 allocated towards road works in Monze

Monze Town Council has allocated K400, 000 of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) towards emergency road works in Monze Central Constituency.

The decision was approved by the CDF committee to ensure that all roads are motorable in the constituency and not disconnected during the rainy season.

Monze Town Council Public Relations Officer Nelson Kazeze said the funds will be used to repair and rehabilitate major roads.

Mr Kazeze said this will include major crossing points within Monze Central Constituency that have been recently washed away by the rains.

He said the Council has since dispatched a team of engineers to assess all roads and bridges for commencement of works with immediate effect.

“As a local authority we are committed to ensure that no area is disconnected during the rainy season and we are collaborating with the three members of parliament and other stakeholders in the district to ensure business keeps flowing,” he said.

Mr Kazeze said the Council is also appealing to all affected residents to be calm and patient the means of improving and upgrading the road infrastructure in the district is been devised.
