Police in Southern Province have nabbed an 18-year-old female juvenile for allegedly murdering her juvenile friend with a knife.
The Juvenile from Maamba town in Sinazongwe district is alleged to have murdered her 18-year-old friend over a boyfriend.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Paul Achiume said the incident occurred on Thursday morning in New Maamba Township.
Mr Achiume said that the victim was home alone at the time and she was found in a pool of blood outside her house with a deep cut on the left cheek and neck.
He also said that the victim’s top was cut in pieces with blood spots splashed inside the house where a kitchen knife and a stone stained with blood were recovered.
“From the information gathered at the scene, the suspect was seen entering the victim’s house but was never spotted when she left the premises. Police went to her house and conducted a search where they recovered a blouse and a chitenge material stained with blood,” he said.
Mr Achiume also said that the suspect was apprehended by police and investigations into the matter have continued.
